MissReads
The Creative Writing Graduate Student Reading Series
MissReads is a local reading series and MFA tradition held at various venues around Oxford. Each fall, the first-year MFA students read from their creative work as a way to introduce themselves to the MFA community. In the spring term, third-year students take the mic as a sort of farewell and a chance to show off how much they’ve grown as writers. Second-year students organize the series to take place four times each semester. Each reading features one poet and one fiction writer, followed by a Q&A moderated by one of our PhD students.
MFA faculty, English grad students, undergraduate creative writers, and others from the Oxford Literary Community form a robust audience for these readings.
